The editors can invite external curators to prepare concepts and develop journal issues on a particular theme. The curators’ voluntary work is supported by the editors and the managing editor; curators will be highlighted in the publication. Their tasks are to specify the particular theme, identify authors (directly and/or via a Call-for-Papers), and oversee their progress. They present the list of authors/articles to the editors, who might propose additions and/or changes. The curators work with the editors and managing editor on a time schedule and facilitate its realization. They oversee the blind-peer review process, copy-edit all contributions, order the articles, prepare a list of content, choose an appropriate cover image, and write the editorial.
Curators have the right–in agreement with the editors–to publish unmodified (with regard to content) contributions as a print version under the condition that the front cover includes the wording ”Wolkenkuckucksheim|Cloud-Cuckoo-Land|Воздушный замок. Special Print.” Since the term ”curator” is unusual in print publications, they could also choose to name themselves ”editors.” In this case, the front cover must include the wording ”Wolkenkuckucksheim|Cloud-Cuckoo-Land|Воздушный замок, edited by Eduard Führ, Jörg Gleiter, Ute Poerschke. Special Print”.
Instruction for Manuscripts
Articles can be submitted based on Call-for-Papers or after invitation by the curators. The authors are to work scientifically responsible, adhere to copyrights and rights of privacy, receive image rights and follow the ”Instructions for Manuscripts.” Authors have the right to publish their contributions with third parties and to translate their articles in other languages, under the condition that they refer to the first publication in Wolkenkuckucksheim|Cloud-Cuckoo-Land|Воздушный замок, including the volume, the issue number and web-address.
Since Wolkenkuckucksheim|Cloud-Cuckoo-Land|Воздушный замок is a voluntary project, honoraria cannot be provided. In case of potential direct profits, authors will be considered appropriately. Indirect profit (related to the institution Verwertungsgesellschaft Wort) might be possible.
Blind-Peer Review Process:
Contributions will be evaluated through a blind peer review process. The process can be implemented in two different ways: First, if authors are invited directly by the curators, they send their contributions directly to the curators, who discuss and copy-edit the articles in close collaboration with the authors. The final drafts will be sent to the managing editor who anonymizes them for blind peer review by the editors, the editorial board members, or external experts. Additional revisions might be requested after this process
Second, if a Call-for-Paper is provided, curators might request an abstract as a first step. In this case, authors submit their abstract to the managing editor or the curators (as specified in the Call-for-Papers). Abstracts will not be anonymized and reviewed only by the curators, who inform the authors about the decision. In a second step, authors submit full articles to the managing editor or the curators (as specified in the Call-for-Papers). The curators review the articles and decide, which are suitable for the particular issue. The preselected articles will then be anonymized by the managing editor for blind peer review by the editors, the editorial board members, or external experts. Curators and editors decide together which articles should be included in a particular theme issue. The authors will be informed about the decision, receive feedback collected throughout the review process, and may be asked to revise their articles. The curators will copy-edit the articles in close collaboration with the authors.
